Hi Geo students! You would remember that I spoke about Comet ISON in class. Well soon enough we will learn a little bit more about Comets but I need you to note that a Comet is generally an icy space rock which varies in size, sometimes miles in diameter. This one called ISON is entering our Solar System for the first time and will whip around the sun in a few months time. We should be able to see it with the naked eye from October. Check out the video and let me know what you think.

The Revolution of the Earth.
The Earth's Revolution
The Revolution of the Earth is not to be confused with the Rotation of the Earth. This is a common mistake among Geography students. The Revolution process defines the movement of the planet Earth around the sun on its elliptical orbit. This journey takes 365 1/4 days to happen once. This is otherwise known as one Earth year. Therefore if your birthday is today, where ever the Earth is today in its orbit, it would take a further 365 1/4 days to go around the sun and get back to that same point for another birthday celebration. Interesting, isn't it? The Earth's Revolution has an impact our climatic seasons. We will explore this further in a subsequent posting.
