Day and night

The rotation of the Earth causes us to experience day and night. As the Earth spins, the side facing the Sun receives daylight. The other side of the Earth receives no sunlight and so it experiences night. As the planet continues to rotate, the side which experienced day will eventually face away from the Sun and experience night. The side which experienced night will eventually rotate into the sunlight and experience day. When we observe the Sun from Earth it seems as if the Sun is moving across the sky but in reality we are the ones moving.

Watch the video below which shows how the Earth's rotation causes day and night.
